Habit 6: Synergize

The blog is back for Habit 6! You need to read pages 182-185 in the 7 Habits book to complete this three-part assignment. Post your responses as a new thread on this post. Also, during today's class, you should have typed up your interview from Habit 5. Please email that to me (at stephanie.davis.20@gmail.com) using your gmail account.

First, using your own words, write a sentence explaining synergy.

Second, observe synergy by responding to the following statements.
The places I see synergy around me are (give examples for each category):
Nature, School, Family, Community or Church, and Work.

Third, diversity is a tough topic among teens. But without diversity, life would be extremely boring. When you hear the word diversity, you typically think of racial and gender differences. But it also means differences in physical features, dress, language, wealth, family, religious beliefs, lifestyle, education, interests, skills, age, style, and on and on. Habit 6: Synergize teaches that since diversity is inevitable, you can take three possible approaches:
Level 1: Shun Diversity, Level 2: Tolerate Diversity, and Level 3: Celebrate Diversity.
Using information from pages 183-185, respond to the following.

The things I can do to become a celebrator in each category are:
Race, Gender, Religion, Age, Dress, Body Type, and Abilities/Disabilities.

  1. THIS IS CONNOR DOMSITZ FO SHO!!!

    1. Synergy is when 2 people achieve a goal that neither of them could've achieved bythemselves.
    2. the places ive seen synergy around me are 2 deer making babies in the wild/nature, students working together to do a project in school, my parents working jobs to provide for the family, people working together to help out the communtiy by taking care of parks and stuff, and finally when me and some people bale hay and we all work together to get 'r' done.
3.thing i can do to be a celebrator in race is accept people of different races, have equaled gendered friends, get to know people in my church, don't just hang out with people my own age, don't judge people by how they dress, body type doesn't typpically matter, and dont judge by what people can and cant do.

  2. 1. Synergy means combining and compromising ideas with other people to achieve a desired result.
    2. The places I see synergy in nature are birds flying together in a formation. The places I see synergy in school are group projects. The places I see synergy in family is vacations and family dinners. The places I see synergy in the community are benefit breakfasts to help Amanda O'Dell. The places I see synergy at work are when the restaurant gets busy and everyone helps each other to get things done.
    3. I can become a celebrator of race by learning about other cultures. I can become a celebrator of gender by learning about the issues that affect both (ex: abortion). I can become a celebrator of religion by participating in other religion's ceremonies. I can become a celebrator of age by living in the moment. I can become a celebrator of dress by not being judgmental. I can become a celebrator of body type by encouraging others who feel pressured to look a certain way. I can become a celebrator of abilities and disabilities by volunteering to help those who aren't as fortunate as I am.

  3. 1.Synergy means accomplishing somthing with 2 or more people which is better than what you could do by yourself.
2.The places that I have seen synergy around me include when two horses working together to scracth each others back, when two students work together on a school project, when my parents work together on projects so they can get it done faster, when the preist and the servers work together during mass at church, and when construction workers work together to pave roads (for example one person is spreading the asphalt and the other is using a roller)
    3. Things I can do to celebrate different races would be to listen to them and see their point of view, with gender I can learn more about what concerns the other gender, with religon I can take a class over different religons to better understand them, with age I can make friends with people of all ages, with type of dress I can learn to look past what they are wearing to who they really are as a person, with body type I can encourage others to be just how they are, finally concerning abilities/ disabilities I can encourage all progress both make.
